So today, via Facebook, I land on a great Andriod app! PesaDroid! Well, all it does is give you a nice view of all your M-Pesa transactions, taking data form the messages on the phone. I have no doubt that the developers of the app worked quite hard on it and it is a wonderful app but my God, their website! Pesadroid.com is not a site to visit. It has put a new benchmark on just how crappy a site can be. I mean, these guys should have just stuck to giving people the android market link coz at least there, they can leverage the look of the marketplace. Their one page site is just something that should be taken off the net! Like immediately! Trust me, if I had seen their site before installing the app, I would not have installed it coz their site is just a joke!

Yeah, I can tell you for a fact that the Kenya twitter-verse, and blog-verse, and any other ‘verse’ that this country may have is all buzzing about the ICC and the cases that have been recently been confirmed on some powerful local politicians but frankly speaking, that news is not on my mind right now. MEGAUPLOAD HAS BEEN TAKEN DOWN! This is just after a victorious ‘sites black out’ petition against SOPA and PIPA in the states. Clearly, I think the thing to take home from this is in as much as the initial battle for protecting a free internet may have been won, the war is nowhere near over!

About 11 months ago, Google ‘busted’ Bing copying its search results, with Hiybbprqag as one to the key words used in the bust. This was quite some news, back then, and oh did they make noise about it. Anyhow, not that we would expect any less coz essentially when it comes to search, with the bowing out of Yahoo! from the business, there are only two players – Google with Google Search and Microsoft with Bing. Microsoft did defend itself here but, yeah, that was quite a boo boo on their end.

Fast forward to today, and this time, guess what! Google is apologizing! And not to Bing or any other such large company or outfit,  but to a local Kenyan company, Mocality! Details about what actually happened can be found here, plus all the hating on Google slogan of ‘Do no Evil’. Clearly, it seems like some wrong has been done here, and the wrong doers seem to be working to correct their mistakes and / or take appropriate action but that is besides my point.

And the doomsday year is finally here! It is 2012!  Do not be worried, the events depicted in the similarly named movie are definitely not going to happen. But seeing as very few people are actively participating in particle physics (I’d be hard pressed to name any major active experimental facility other than CERN), maybe we are yet to find out the destructive forces of neutrinos! Anyhow, I digress.
