I recently bought a script which I needed to accomplish a task – but I had one problem while paying for the script via PayPal – the script developer initiates a recurring payment for continued support of the script. This, I figure, is a sneaky way of constantly charging me for something I might not need. Since I needed the script, I proceeded to purchase it…and now had to find a way to ensure that I do not get charged automatically for any support or product that I may or may not need. For some reason I am more confortable with email reminders and me renewing subscriptions manually – gives me time to re-evaluate the subscription and decide on its worth each time it come up for renewal.
Now, before I get off on a tangent cum rant, should you need to cancel a recurring payment in PayPal, here is what to do.
Step 1: Log in to your PayPal account.
Step 2: Go to My Account –> Profile.
Step 3: On the left menu select My money and then click on the Update link under the My Pre-approved Payments section. This will bring up a page with a list of all your subscription (automatic payments)
Step 4: Click on the Merchant Title to get the details of the Subscription
Step 5: Click Cancel to Cancel the subscription and prevent automatic payments to that Merchant.
NB: Please note that PayPal has different sites for different global regions so some things may be different. Should you have queries, well, that’s what the comments are for.Share
