As a web developer, social media integration is something that nearly all my clients want – not withstanding how active or not they are on the various platforms available. For the most part – all I would need to integrate a Twitter Widget was the Twitter Username of the client. That for the most part has since changed and I am now starting to ask people to delve into settings pages that they would ordinarily not go to. So call this an online manual to not only simplify my life (by providing a simple page to redirect persons whom I need to this on my behalf) – but hopefully also reduce any frustration that other developers may go through when trying to get this simple crucial feature for their clients’ websites. And if the above statement is correct – then I wonder what I have been of late…
That said – I have just finished building a WordPress site – for a company that deals in Digital Marketing. That has been the inspiration for this blog post – seeing as it was full of social and SEO integration here and there – with a focus on content because CONTENT IS STILL KING apparently.
Should you want to see the results of my hard work – please do visit – http://digital4africa.biz – and then follow them on Twitter and Like them on Facebook…and should you need a sound digital marketing strategy, fill any of the numerous contact forms and your shall surely be taken care of.
Moving on to the next project as my Blog keeps defining – to some extent – who I am…Share
So…yeah – I attended the The Great Run (http://thegreatrun.org) over the weekend an boy was if fun. All the fast cars and the adrenaline that goes with it. This 5th edition of the run was taking participants from Nairobi to Mai Mahiu, Narok, Bomet, Mogogosiek (where the home we were supporting is), Litein, Kericho, Mau Summit, Nakuru, Naivasha and then back to Nairobi. 620 clicks – according to my odometer – when I was done.
The home being supported was the AIC Babies Home (yes – babies). Their youngest child was about 2 weeks old with the eldest being 7 years old. From what the Chairman of the home said – in his very loooooooong speech (he may have forgotten that people actually had to get back to Nairobi the same day…or maybe it is just what happens when leaders get hold of a microphone and an audience) – the home supports the young ones and then moves them on to other homes as they get older – and they get needy children from all over the region.Share
This may not be a problem for many people but folder syncing can be an issue, especially if you are like me, who has work spread out over at least three computers; one at home, one at the office, and a mobile computer (laptop/tablet/phablet). This is not to mention the syncing of work to online resources like Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft’s OneDrive (formerly known as SkyDrive before an injuction by Sky Media in the UK put an end to that – Microsoft should fire the guy who came up with that name as clearly they have no research capabilities) – so that should one by any chance not be at one of their computers but has access to an online machine, they can still get access to their work.
I scoured the web searching for useful solutions to this conundrum and here are the applications I have ended up installing on my computers – in a bid to keep my folders up to date most of the time.Share
It is now, and always has been, the policy of this company to ensure that it’s employees are well trained. Through our ‘SPECIAL HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING’ programme, or S.H.I.T. for short. We have given our employees more S.H.I.T. than any other company in the area.
If any employee feels that he or she is not receiving enough S.H.I.T. on the job, or that he or she could advance to another position by taking more S.H.I.T. please see your immediate supervisor.
If you graduate to the top of your list by taking all the S.H.I.T. that is given to you, you can then qualify for our Supervisors Programme ‘COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY ACTION PROGRAMME’ or C.R.A.P. for short.
So to become a member of our Management Team, simply take all the S.H.I.T. you can, and then with all the additional C.R.A.P. you receive, you will soon reach the top. Any employee who has the initiative and drive to take both S.H.I.T. and C.R.A.P. will soon become one of the elite.
For a limited period only the company is offering all employees the chance to try for the latest scheme ‘ADVANCED SUPERVISORY STAFF HELPING OUR LOCAL EMPLOYEES’ or A.S.S.H.O.L.E. for short. So work hard, and you will find that the more S.H.I.T. you take the more C.R.A.P. you can handle, your prospects of becoming an A.S.S.H.O.L.E. will improve dramatically.Share
